GETTING TO OUR POTATO WHARF, CASTLEFIELD APARTMENTS
Castlefield is in the south-west of Manchester, ideally placed for connections to the city and beyond. Deansgate Castlefield train and tram stations are a short walk, as is the central business district. And don’t forget the diverse restaurants, bars, and venues of Spinningfields and Deansgate Locks which are within walking distance of our Castlefield apartments – your new local neighbourhood.
Potato Wharf sits within the ancient setting of Castlefield, named for its Roman fort, and, while steeped in history, it’s also just a pleasant walk, skip, cycle or train ride away from some of the best local - and national - hotspots. A home isn’t just four walls, and with so much to explore, there’s no time like the present to get to know the area around our Castlefield apartments. Here’s how to get around.
It takes just 20 minutes to walk from the centre of Manchester to our apartments in Castlefield. Manchester city centre is left behind as you walk along the historic Deansgate thoroughfare, along which you’ll see examples of the city’s finest landmarks such as Manchester Cathedral and The John Rylands Library. Then it’s just a right down Liverpool Road where you’ll be tempted by a great choice of bars and restaurants, before turning left to reach Potato Wharf.
Getting to and from Potato Wharf by train is easy with Deansgate station only 10 minutes' walk away. Turn the UK into your local playground, with weekend destinations such as York and Blackpool accessible by train in under 2 hours and London in just 2.5 hours. For jet-setters, the train from Deansgate to Manchester Airport will take around 30 minutes.
The tram is currently one of just a handful of British cities to have a working system and, for Mancunians and tourists alike, it’s a wonderful way to see the city and people-watch along the way. You can hop on at Manchester Piccadilly to Deansgate-Castlefield and be in Potato Wharf in just 9 minutes. There are also excellent tram links to Manchester Airport to and from Potato Wharf every 15 minutes.
Enjoy the simple things while being part of a greener way of life by cycling around your new neighbourhood. You can ride for hundreds of miles in Greater Manchester on dedicated cycle paths with zero traffic, or on very quiet roads. And lots of main roads have bike-only lanes to make your journey easier.
Ok, so it’s not the speediest commuter option perhaps, but Potato Wharf is just minutes from the Bridgewater Canal from where you can enjoy cruises along the many rivers and canals which formed an integral part of Manchester's 19th century industrial boom. Hire boats for special events or join a tour along the river past Old Trafford, The Imperial War Museum and MediaCityUK. This is a fantastic option for showcasing the historic side of Potato Wharf within its surroundings while exploring all Manchester has to offer.
