South Gardens shortlisted for top award

After winning a clutch of awards, Lendlease’s South Gardens development in Elephant and Castle has been shortlisted again in the New London Architecture Awards 2018.

Designed by Maccreanor Lavington Architects, South Gardens is up against 21 other developments for the Sustainability Prize within the Housing category.

South Gardens is a 360-home development in Zone 1 of the capital – the first to be built as part of Lendlease’s Elephant Park Masterplan. It has already been recognised in RIBA’s London Awards and as the ‘Supreme Winner’ in the Brick Awards 2017.

The mix of new homes – ranging from three-storey houses to a 16-storey tower, designed so the scheme has a village feel – showcase the latest sustainable building practices and innovations, including cross-laminated timber, a highly durable material that improves energy efficiency. The homes also feature water-saving technology, including green roofs and green walls.

The NLA award winners will be announced at the NLA Annual Lunch on 4th July 2018 at the Guildhall in the City of London.

More than 150 projects across 15 categories have been shortlisted, recognising the very best new and proposed architecture, planning and development in the capital. Around 700 of the capital’s leading decision-makers and professionals across development, design, planning and construction are expected to attend the awards ceremony.
