Explore Deptford

Did you know Deptford was once home to a thriving royal dockyard, the brainchild of Henry VIII? You’ll see nods to this all over the area - for example, the anchor that sits proudly at the top of the busy high street. You can’t miss it!

There’s cutting edge culture to be enjoyed here; theatres, galleries, a cinema and museums meet you at every turn. The Albany brings you new and innovative theatre productions and you’ll find world-class dance at the contemporary Laban building. Nearby Greenwich is also home to the Royal Museums.

The culture of the area is reflected by those who live there. Communities of artists and makers are found all over Deptford, but especially around the Creekside area. Here you’ll find award-winning social enterprise Cockpit Arts. They support creatives at all stages of their career so if you want help turning your hobby into a business and want to make Deptford your place of work as well as your home, you can apply for a place at any time.
