The Local Scene
Once you’ve satisfied yourself with the buzz of the high street and market, enjoy the relaxed side of Deptford which lies at the heart of the area’s café and bar scene.
Deptford has an abundance of coffee shops to choose from. From those with roasteries on site to creative spaces where you can sip a flat white while working, you can take your pick. Most of them also have brunch menus bursting with local ingredients so you’ll never get bored of your options.
If it’s something a little stronger you’re looking for, check out one of the area’s bars. There are plenty of options for you, including live music with a side of locally brewed beer, pre-dinner cocktails in a sophisticated setting, and a good old-fashioned pint in a traditional corner pub.
Fans of kitsch will fall in love with this quirky, award-winning venue in the Market Yard. It’s possible to lose a day if you turn up for one of the bottomless boozy brunches, but don’t worry - you haven’t got far to walk back to The Timberyard. With multiple awards – including one for its fish finger sandwiches – you’ll also find draft craft lager, teapot cocktails, Deptford disco fries and delicious afternoon tea. Be sure to arrive hungry!

There’s a real community feel to this venue and you can even join their cycling club (London Velo Café Cycling Club) on one of their regular Sunday social rides.
